David Welsh

David has been kayaking since he was nine years old, and the sport quickly became a lifelong passion. At 15, he began guiding on the Youghiogheny River with Laurel Highlands River Tours, where he built the foundation of his river skills and teaching style.

Today, he coaches playboating and advanced skills with Colorado Whitewater Kids, helping young paddlers build confidence, technique, and river awareness. David spends most of his time on the Arkansas River and Waterton Canyon, with Clear Creek being his favorite Front Range run. When the water is right, you’ll often find him surfing the wave near the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista.
