  • Have you dipped your toe into kayaking but still aren’t sure if it’s for you? Let’s fall in love with the river first before we start obsessing over every technical detail.

    Shuttle
    If you feel very confident in your boating experiences with the skills above, consider the Beginner course which will focus more on technique improvement of already learned skills. If you feel shaky or lack confidence while in your boat, come join us in this Intro Class!


    Locations: ideally Canyon City Play Park and CC Play Park to Mackenzie Bridge
  • For kayakers who have been on more than 5 moving water trips. Learning the skills to move beyond class II.
  • For the ladies, taught by the ladies!

    Play and practice, instructional, in your hard shell kayak. Strokes, edges, river reading and maneuvering; roll practice/refinement; and intro to surfing. A river roll is not required, but interest in progressing is. At minimum, you should be comfortable and experienced on Class II/II+ with a desire to develop competence on Class III water.

  • A safe, mellow, chillaxin’ float trip for those who prefer a low- stress experience. No
    intensive skills drills, this is a fun but instructional cruise requiring mild effort.The
    group(s) can determine their own focus, whether it’s discussion about reading
    whitewater or safety scenarios, or what-have-you. Talk to your Trip Leaders to
    customize your trip.
  • Skills for class III boaters. Punching big waves, using cross current speed, basic surfing, catching smaller eddies.
  • Learning the skills to advance beyond class III. Hard moves in easy water. Boofs, jet ferries, using surfing to get lateral speed,
  • We're not surviving the big rapids, we're styling them. Linking moves, slaloming rapids, boofing over holes. River Roll required.
  • River Roll Required

    Surfs, spins, spats, cartwheels, tailies and loops!
    This course will introduce you to the world of playing on the river.
    We'll mix time in a playpark working on boat control, foundational skills and traditional "freestyle" tricks with time on a down river section applying those skills, learning some down-river tricks, working on fear control and learning to play in a natural river environment.

    I'm Mason Hargrove, a 21-year-old professional whitewater athlete and college student. As a former Jr. Men's World Champion in Freestyle Kayaking, a Vice World Cup champion in the Senior Men’s class, and a 5-time USA Freestyle Champion, I’m stoked to help everyone out on the water. I want to see you meet your goals and make new ones as we progress in your kayaking journey!
  • Participation in this class is only available to kids already enrolled in Kids Team pool classes. A code will be made available to parents in order to register here.
  • This ticket type is to support Kids team instructors or on water volunteer.
    You must be a member of Colorado Whitewater to participate.
  • Not participating in on-water activities but still want to hang out at training camp with your friends? This is the registration for you!
  • Two day rowing clinic is a fun and immersive way to learn and build on rowing, water reading & scouting, and river safety skills, working up to class III+ whitewater.
  • If upgraded lodging is desired, be sure to do a SECOND REGISTRATION and choose one of the "Z" options below.
    Basic Camping is included in registration fee.
  • These spots are flat for vehicle's where people plan to sleep.
    2 RVs will share a hookup connection
    Or a van might stay with an RV
    Or two vans might share
    Depends on who signs up.
  • If you need a spot to hookup your RV you must register this need by selecting this option. First register for your class, then register a second time for the RV spot.
    Dedicated spot is good for large vehicles.
  • No pets in the cabin area.

The First BIG Whitewater Event of 2026

Please visit the Training Camp page to review all class descriptions, camping information, entertainment, etc. 

To emphasize camping situation. Event registration includes a shared tent site. Planning for at least two tents per site.  If you want to upgrade be sure to do a second registration for lodging upgrade.

You must be a current CW member to participate or volunteer on the water. You will need to login to open up registration for those types (they are grayed out if you are not logged in). If you not already a member you will need to join CW to become a member before you can register.

You must also sign the new waiver. We have updated our insurance provider to Paddlesport risk management.
