Training Camp: Coaching & Community

Last year I was lucky enough to meet some paddlers on the river that invited me to Colorado Whitewater's Training Camp. As a beginner kayaker, I was a little nervous to sign up. I was unsure of what classes to take, and if I would be the only person there without a group of friends to mingle with. One quick email later and I was assured not to worry if I needed to switch classes later and to show up ready to have a good time. Read more

Sunday, May 7th is the Last Pool Session for 2017!

It's time to tune-up your kayak roll before you get on the river this Spring. Sign up for the Roll Tune-Up Clinic and let our ACA-certified instructors give you feedback to make your roll solid. May 7th is also the last open pool sessions so take advantage of it! Read more

Monday Night Beginner Meetups Are Back

We're continuing last season's Monday night Meetup to paddle after work. All summer, rain or shine, and flows permitting at Reynolds Park in Littleton or Golden Whitewater Park as the back-up. Read more 


Spring Dinner: June 1

Join CW in welcoming Stephen Wright, current World Squirt Boat Champion, five-time U.S. Freestyle Kayak Champion, and hilarious raconteur at our annual Spring Dinner. Stephen will speak on "How to win at the game of kayaking." Great speaker, great food, and the great company of fellow boaters. Play in the Golden whitewater park and then come grab dinner with us! Update on Peaks to Plains Trail

Clear Creek soon will be swollen with spring runoff, and many of us are itching to get on the water. This has me thinking about the Peaks to Plains Trail project and its impact on river navigability as well as access to the traditional put-in/take-out spots. Read more

2017 Golden Rodeo
We want to see you at the Golden Rodeo this year--beginners, experts, and spectators. Prizes to be given away to participants. Mark your calendar! Will take place on the last two Wednesdays in June and the first Wednesday in July: June 21, June 28, July 5.

May 7, 3:00–5:00 p.m.: Roll Tune-Up If you are looking to brush up on your roll or are looking for feedback on why you are "lifting your head," this two-hour clinic will provide you with direct feedback that should help you on your path to improving your roll. 

May 15: Cruise–Cemetery Run, Roaring Fork River (Class II+)

May 19–21: Training Camp This is Colorado Whitewater’s greatest annual event, in terms of both size and scope. About 150 people usually attend this weekend long fun-fest.

May 27: Cruise–Milk Run, Arkansas (Class II+)

May 28: Cruise–Family/Kid-focused Milk Run Lap, Arkansas (Class II+)

June 1, 5:30 p.m.: Spring Dinner, American Mountaineering Center, Golden.
