12th Annual South Platte River Clean-Up

We are excited to announce that Colorado Whitewater is hosting the 12th Annual South Platte River Clean-up on Saturday, April 22nd in celebration of Earth Day in Denver, Colorado. This is an all-volunteer event to pick up trash along the South Platte River. In past years, we have seen over 200 rafters, kayakers, and other participants successfully remove over 2 TONS of garbage from the river corridor. Read more.

2017 Training Camp

Training Camp is Colorado Whitewater’s greatest annual event, in terms of both size and scope.  About 150 people usually attend this weekend long fun-fest to improve the paddling skills with ACA-certified instructors. Read more.

ACA Swiftwater Rescue Clinics: May 6–7 & May 13–14

Somewhere, at sometime, you will wish you knew what to do in a river emergency. Just rescuing gear can turn into a nightmare, never mind rescuing a person. Quick response time and the knowledge to set up a rescue safely are skills you should have as a boater. Make this the year to bring your rescue skills to a higher level. Read more.

Upper Colorado Wild and Scenic River Stakeholders Group

In 2007, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released a report on the eligibility of rivers in the Upper Colorado River Basin for Wild and Scenic River designation (BLM Eligibility Report, March 2007). This report identified 54.4 miles of the Upper Colorado River from the top of Gore Canyon downstream to a point one mile east of No Name Creek in Glenwood Springs, Colorado (segments 4 through 7) as having numerous “outstandingly remarkable values” eligible for special federal designation as a Wild and Scenic River. New Arkansas River Access

At the end 2016, the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) purchased property from Union Pacific Railroad in Texas Creek on the Arkansas River. The new launch area is now groomed and ready for commercial and private use. Read more.

March 26, 3:00–5:00 p.m. Boating Betties Class The Boating Betties program is an evolving instructional / mentoring program for women by women.  Our intention is to empower each other and encourage the women of Colorado Whitewater to build confidence, master skills, and create strong friendships, both on and off the water.

April 2–May 7, 3:00–5:00 p.m. Beginner Kayaking Class This introductory course is comprised of 3 separate sessions to provide a safe, gentle introduction into the world of whitewater kayaking.

April 23, 3:00–5:00 p.m. Hand Roll Clinic If you are looking to brush up on your hand roll this 2 hour clinic will provide you with direct feedback that should help you on your path to improving your hand roll.

April 23, 3:005:00 p.m.  Intermediate Fundamentals Course This class will reinforce and polish a wide variety of skills over two weeks at the intermediate level in a fast-paced boot camp format.
