The 13th Annual Golden Community Rodeo Series
The 13th Annual Golden Community Rodeo, sponsored by Confluence Kayaks, took place on June 21, and July 6. About two dozen freestyle competitors competed in a rodeo for a chance to win cool prizes. Check out the article published in the Golden Transcript.
Clear Creek Canyon Mandatory Takeout Notification
As part of construction of the Peaks to Plains Trail, there is a mandatory takeout at Cannonball Flats, milepost 261.23. This will be in place for the entire 2016 season. There are multiple signs in the creek to alert boaters as well as maps at the put-ins upstream. The creek is open again below the Big Easy, milepost 262.27. Read more...

Arkansas Weekend 2016 by Jim Green
The Arkansas valley is a special place in Colorado. The valley seems worlds away from the polished tourist areas like Summit County and the Vail Valley. It’s the quintessential Colorado experience. There’s another thing that I always think about when I’m paddling the Ark. If I got on the river and just kept going I could paddle all the way to my parent’s house in Fort Smith Arkansas. I could paddle under the bridge, take a right on Massard Creek and literally take out in front of their house and knock on the door. No wonder this river can feel like home. Upcoming CW Events
AUGUST
August 7 Cruise—Deckers This cruise will be held on the Deckers (class II) section of the South Fork of the South Platte River near Deckers, Colorado. BBQ to follow.
August 7: Cruise—Waterton Come run Waterton Canyon of the South Platte River on Saturday, August 8. This cruise is a class III/IV run and only one mile long. We'll walk back up half way and run the rapid section multiple times. Once we're worn out, we'll walk our boats back up to the put-in and enjoy the potluck BBQ with the Deckers cruise.
August 12-14: BaileyFest 2016 There will be guaranteed water in Bailey, so BaileyFest 2016 is ON! Come camp, kayak, and mingle with other paddlers.
August 13: Cruise—Fractions and/or Frog Rock to BV This day cruise will be held on the Fractions and/or Frog Rock run (class III) on the Arkansas River near Buena Vista, Colorado.
SEPTEMBER
September 3: Cruise—Lower Blue This cruise will be held on the Lower Bluesection of the Blue River near Sliverthorne, Colorado.
September 9-11: Colorado River Weekend Come join your CW friends for our last river weekend of 2016. We'll be camping on the Colorado River and doing runs on it, the LowerBlue and possibly others depending on river levels. No need to register - just come have fun!
