Monday Night Meetups are Back!
By Ruth Eipper

It’s that time of year again! The rivers are (slowly) coming up, and kayakers of all levels are coming out of hibernation itching to hit the river. Luckily, Monday night meetups are back to help scratch that itch! Every Monday night at 5:30, boaters of all ability levels come together to support each other and get out on the water. Monday night meetups are the perfect place for beginners to work on their skills and for more experienced paddlers to help out and support newer ones. Location varies depending on water levels. Come be a part of CW's biggest event of the year. We offer classes for a range of abilities and interests, including a playboating class, rafting class, and even a class where you can learn how to stand-up paddleboard! Reel Paddling Film Festival Was a Success

Movie night/Spring Kickoff was a huge success, with over 150 people in attendance. We showed several films from the Reel Paddling Film Festival. Highlights included a ski-kiting expedition to a river in Greenland, the first descent of Bull's Sleuce rapid on the Chattooga by President Jimmy Carter, an expedition to a remote gorge in Pakistan, and a speed record attempt through the Grand Canyon. We also had many awesome raffle prizes thanks to our event sponsors! Read more here.

CW Makes Donation for Maintenance of Bailey Put In

For those who enjoy paddling Bailey Canyon, you know what great access we have at both ends of the run. But did you know that the put in is maintained exclusively with donations and volunteer labor? The Bailey put in is arguably one of the best boater access points in North America. Find out more about what makes this put in so special and why CW has donated to the cause. He discusses runs like Apple Valley on the St. Vrain and Filter Plant on the Poudre. With runoff season quickly approaching, it's time to start making boating plans! Read more here.

Spring Dinner 2018 Recap

CW's annual spring dinner was held last week at the American Mountaineering Museum. Thank you to all those who attended as well as to guest speaker Hattie Johnson. What a great way to kick off the kayaking season!

CW Members Contributed to South Platte River Cleanup

Thank you to all of our members who spent last Saturday picking up trash along the South Platte River. Flows were too low to boat, but that didn't stop the boating community from coming out to support a good cause. Thanks to Down River Equipment for putting together this event for the 13th year in a row!
