  • Centennial Park in Canon City, Colorado (along Arkansas River)
The Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival is held annually in beautiful Cañon City, Colorado, where the Arkansas River flows, rages, and tumbles out of the world famous Royal Gorge. This is the premier whitewater and river event of the summer. Come join our festival on June 21 & 22, 2013!

The festival is held annually at Centennial Park, located along the beautiful banks of the Arkansas River. There will be 20-events during the festival and just about anyone can compete.

Whitewater Events: We will offer everything from down river races through the world famous Royal Gorge, to freestyle events in the Cañon City Whitewater Park, or sprint and Boater X races. Whether you prefer rafts, kayaks, SUP’s, or river boards there is an event for everyone to enjoy. Back for the 12th year is the Build Your Own Boat Race (ByOB Race) and there is the very popular Community Raft Race. You don’t have to be an expert to participate in most events, in fact you only need to be able sit in a tube for the River Tube Races. Anyone can get in the river and have fun.

Adventure Events: This will be the third year we have offered the Adventure Events series. These are events anyone can participate in and you don’t have to have any skills necessarily, you just need to be a little adventurous. There is a bike race taking you across the Royal Gorge Bridge, a 5 K run/obstacle course, an inflatable kayak race, disc golf tournament, or fly casting competition. Do you have an adventurous side?

Music: Live music in 2013 will be held on a temporary stage in Centennial Park! New this year will be a river stage between the Duck Pond and the Cañon City Whitewater Park for your entertainment in the afternoon hours. You can get a complete band line-up in the Music section of this website.

Vendors and other information: Once again we will host a large Fun Zone for kids of all ages.

There will also be a variety of food and drink vendors, carefully selected wares vendors and informational booths.

The Festival will primarily benefit the future expansion of the Cañon City Whitewater Park through the City of Cañon City. It will also provide funds to the Fremont Community Foundation, the Cañon City Recreation and Park District, and Fremont Adventure Recreation (FAR). 100% of the proceeds will go back to community projects and services. This is an event which benefits the community is many different ways. So come on out, have a great time, enjoy our wonderful community and support all of the great organizations. This is the event of the summer in Cañon City and Eastern Fremont County!
