Colorado Whitewater (CW) is very excited to promote Peter Holcombe’s New Years Day Paddle on the Shoshone. Please note the paddle is not a CW event.
People will gather at the put in around 11:30 to set shuttle and get on the river at 12:00 noon. It is a very casual event so the number of laps will all depend on weather and what the group would like to do. CW will be providing hot cocoa to help everyone stay warm.
We will finish the Day at Iron Mountain hot springs in Glenwood. Cost for the hot springs is $20 a person and we can get a 10% discount if we have 20 or more people. A cash bar is on property.
Note for Paddlers
It is very important that anyone thinking about participating in paddling has the proper cold weather gear such as a dry suit, good base layers, pogies/ gloves and most importantly a strong roll. Paddling in winter weather with water this cold is dangerous, especially if a swim occurs. This is not a CW event and are not liable, but we want to make sure it remains a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
Water Level: Class IV
