Colorado Whitewater: A Proud Sponsor of River Festivals

Going on now! The 13th Annual Golden Community Rodeo Series

On Wednesday, June 1 was the first Golden Community Rodeo of the season, sponsored by Confluence Kayaks, with 21 freestyle competitors. The event allows amateur paddlers to compete in a rodeo for a chance to win cool prizes. The next rodeo will be held on June 29 sponsored by Colorado Whitewater and followed by a fun slalom race on July 6 sponsored by Golden River Sports. Read more...


Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area Management Plan Proposed Changes

Your input is important. Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service are seeking public input on draft alternatives for the management plan revision for recreation use along the Arkansas River. Read more...

Poudre Weekend 2016

It’s three in the morning, and I’m too excited to sleep. My dog gives a slight a huff as I crawl out of bed and turn on YouTube. May as well watch that roll video one more time since the only thing I’ve mastered is the wet exit and the window shade. It’s no use. I’ve memorized this roll video, and I still can’t figure it out. I need more pool practice. I need to sleep. I kill the TV and crawl back into bed. When I wake up, I’ll gulp some coffee and load my kayak and camping gear into my truck. The Proposed Blue Valley Land Exchange

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposed land exchange. Boaters will still be able to float through the Blue Valley Ranch as before. However as part of the exchange, Blue Valley Ranch has proposed several design features including construction of a new take-out for floaters near the confluence of the Colorado and Blue Rivers, and a permanent rest stop for floaters with a seasonal toilet on ranch property at Spring Creek Bridge. A Raging Success: The South Platte Clean-Up

JUNE
June 2913th Annual Golden Community Rodeo Series Come have some fun at the second Golden Rodeo! Freestyle competition is open to all amateur kayakers for a chance to win cool prizes. 

June 25: Cruise—Pumphouse This day cruise will be held on the Pumphouse run (class II/III) on the Colorado River near Kremmling, Colorado. 

June 26: Cruise—Filter Plant This day cruise will be held on the Filter Plant run (class II+) on the Poudre River near Fort Collins, Colorado. 

JULY
July 613th Annual Golden Community Rodeo Series Come have some fun at the third and final Golden Rodeo! A fun slalom race is open to all boaters including kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards.

July 9: Cruise—Filter Plant This day cruise will be held on the Filter Plant run (class II+) on the Poudre River near Fort Collins, Colorado. 

July 15: Cruise—Browns Canyon This day cruise will be held on the Browns Canyon run (class III) on the Arkansas River near Buena Vista, Colorado. 

July 15-17: Arkansas Weekend The "backside" of the runoff "bubble" is the perfect time to visit, or revisit, the Arkansas River this summer.  Milk Run, Brown's Canyon, Fractions, Numbersthey are all waiting for you!

July 23: Cruise—Cottonwood to Dotsero This day cruise will be held on the Cottonwood to Dotsero run (class II) on the Colorado River near Dotsero, Colorado. 

July 31: Cruise—Fractions and/or Frog Rock to BV This day cruise will be held on the Fractions and/or Frog Rock run (class III) on the Arkansas River near Buena Vista, Colorado.
